Vera Mae Wick, beloved mother and grandmother, 83, of Wamego passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego. Vera was born on November 9, 1933 in Bellaire, KS to Verne and Mary (Molesworth) Chapman. She was united in marriage with Albert Lyle Wick on May 18, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Arnold, KS. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1975. Vera was a dedicated mother who put her family first. Vera joined the Catholic faith on April 26, 2015. Her hobbies included puzzles, bingo, crafts, watching tennis and football, and talking politics. Her biggest joy was being with her family. She is survived by a daughter: Linda Gietl (Edward), Denver, CO; a son: Jeff Wick (Tina), Wamego, KS; and four grandchildren: Peter and Nathan Gietl, Denver, CO, and Jacob and Samantha Wick, Wamego, KS. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Donald and Ronald Wick; two brothers: Loren and LeRoy Chapman; two sisters: Ethel Robinson and Ruth Williams; and her parents. Funeral Mass for Vera will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, KS. Visitation will take place one half hour before the service. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. at the Utica City Cemetery in Utica, KS.
