Beverly "Bev" Joyce Stender

  Beverly “Bev” Joyce Stender, beloved mother and grandmother, 74, of Wamego passed away Friday, February 10, 2017.   Bev was born May 8, 1942 to Eva (Hurlbert) Donohoe and Willard Hurlbert in Ansley, NE.   Bev’s love and life were focused on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.  She also enjoyed being outside, her time farming, playing pitch, a good band, occasionally going to the casino, shopping and watching her favorite tv shows.    She is survived by three daughters: Peggy “Deb” Kemp (Tim), Wamego, KS, Sandra Garcia (John), Belen, NM, and Angela Weixelman (Pat), Wamego, KS; one son: Steven Stender, Omaha, NE; six grandchildren: Andrew Miksch (Holly), Candice Collette (Timothy), Joshua Garcia, Jacqueline Manriquez (Adan), Maggie Miksch,  and Zachary Weixelman; and one sister: Delorise Ueding.   She is preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings: Mary, Shirley, and Everett.   A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.  The family will be accepting friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Wamego Senior Center, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
