View Memorial Slideshow Arthur Clayton Wille, 94, of Wamego passed away Thursday, March 16,m 2017 at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. On April 6, 1922, Art was born in Genn Hospital in Wamego, Kansas to August and Martha (Breymeyer) Wille. After his mother passed away due to complications from childbirth, he was raised by an aunt and uncle, Ed and Lena Breymeyer. Art attended District #34 country school and remained on the farm to work until 1943. He set out working different jobs until 1958 when he went to work for K.D.O.T. where he retired in 1984. Art was a lifelong member of Immanuel Faith Community Church of Wells Creek and a member of the Wamego Senior Center. Art was united in marriage to Gertrude Rickstrew on October 5, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1977. They adopted a daughter, Shadelta Ann, in June of 1955. He was united in marriage to Marie (Nanninga) Sump on September 2, 1979 at the Wells Creek Church. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2002. After he retired, they enjoyed time traveling and spending winters in Mesa, AZ. He enjoyed playing cards, pool tournaments, swimming, roller skating, hunting and gigging frogs. He was very creative making many things. He is survived by a daughter: Shelley Harvey, Manhattan, KS; three step-children; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also preceded in death by his father, his aunt and uncle that raised him, five siblings, and many cousins. A Memorial Service for Art will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Wamego City Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University and the Immanuel Faith Community Church of Wells Creek, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O Box 48, 66547.
