View Memorial Slideshow Craig Eino Salminen, 62, of Wamego passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at his home. On August 27, 1954, Craig was born to Eino and Alice (Quimby) Salminen in Painsville, Ohio. After graduating from Riverside High School in 1972, Craig joined the Army and dedicated his time for 26 years before being honorably discharged. After his service, Craig worked for the Kansas Housing Assistance Program as a Director of Asset Management for 16 years. He was united in marriage with Diana (Santoyo) Salminen on February 20, 1976 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She survives of the home. Craig enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He loved going to their events and programs. He also enjoyed doing yard work, crappie fishing, traveling around the country, and was an avid reader. He is also survived by two daughters: Maria Wade (Jeff), Alma, KS, and Mandy Ballenger (Jason), Wamego, KS; a son: Brandon Salminen (Rachelle), Wamego, KS; three sisters: JoAnn Shook (Tom), Mentor, OH, Lori Tills (Ralph), and Beth Thomas (Wayne), both of Painsville, OH; nine grandchildren: Allison, Elijah, Isabella, Aaron, Coralynn, Noah, Aubry, Hagan, and Weston; and thirteen nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral Service for Craig will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, KS. Craig will lie in-state Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
