Robert “Bob” Meinhardt, 85, lifetime resident of Paxico, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego, KS. Bob was born August 30, 1931 on the family homestead near Paxico, KS to Phillip A. and Theresa M. (Seeling) Meinhardt. He attended Newbury Grade School and Paxico High School. He was united in marriage to Beulah Thomas Wahl in Oklahoma on April 19, 1971. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1991. Following high school, he worked on the family farm until entering the military service. He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Chicago, IL. He received the Marksman (Carbine) award with a Good Conduct Medal. After returning home from his service, Bob took over the family homestead, which he farmed for over 50 years. During that time, he worked at Nickerson Farms in Paxico and Southwest Plaza in Topeka. Bob was a lifetime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Newbury. He is survived by five stepchildren: Cindy Hudson (Tom), Sierra Vista, AZ, William Wahl, Jr. ( Julie), Goshen, KY, Susan Fink Ravenna, of Ohio, David Wahl (Shelly), Columbia, MO, and Lori Rogers (Steve), Wamego, KS; a sister: Rosemary Boston, Topeka, KS; a brother: Florian Meinhardt, of California; fifteen step grandchildren, eighteen step great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. Inurnment will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Newbury, which may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
