Minerva E. Fairchild, 89, died Tuesday October 27, 2009 at Westmoreland Community Care Home.
Born on February 7, 1920 in Dwight, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ross and Lillian (Strom) Worden. On March 17, 1938, she married Raymond Fairchild in Westmoreland, Kansas. Raymond preceded her in death on September 11, 1999 after 61 years of marriage.
Minerva was well known as a caregiver. She would care for homebound people who needed assistance in the surrounding area.
She is survived by: her sons, Bill Fairchild of Denison, TX, Raymond Fairchild, Jr. of St. Mary’s, KS and Roy Fairchild of Wamego, KS; her daughter, Beverly Crawford of Clare, MI; her brother, George Worden of Topeka, KS; her 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; In addition to her husband Raymond, she was also preceded in death by her sister Dorene Coffee and her brothers Calvin Worden and Ross Worden, Jr..
Graveside Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday November 2nd at Wamego City Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Tony Mattia will officiate. Friends and family will gather at Stewart Funeral Home prior to the graveside service, Monday morning, at 9:30 a.m. Minerva will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday November 1st starting at 1:00 p.m. and the family will greet friends at a visitation from 3-4:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in Minerva’s name for Westmoreland Community Care Home and may be left in care of the funeral home P.O.
