Rae Deane Clover

Rae Deane Clover, 93, of Westmoreland, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Westy Community Care Home.

She was born June 13, 1924, north of Westmoreland, the daughter of Raymond Earl and Alice Christine (Fagerberg) Fairchild. She attended Westmoreland Grade School and graduated from high school in California. She married Eugene “Gene” L. Clover in Oakland, CA on May 17, 1944. He preceded her on death January 27, 2000.

She moved with her family to Wichita, KS shortly after marriage, where her husband worked at Boeing Aircraft for 20 years and she worked at the Wichita Eagle News and the Wichita Medical Clinic as a key-punch operator. They moved to Wamego, KS for a few years and then moved to Westmoreland in 1972. During that time, she worked for many years at McCall Pattern Company in Manhattan as a key-punch operator until her retirement. Rae Deane was also active within the Westy community. She was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary-Post 186 Westmoreland, and also the Westmoreland Community Service Club.

She enjoyed camping with family, visiting all 50 states (including Hawaii three times), counter cross-stitching and needlepoint.

Survivors include two daughters: Cheryl Frederick of Peabody, KS, Kristen Clover of Hillsboro, KS; two grandchildren, Heidi (James) Nagel, Michael West; and two great-grandchildren, Mickaela and Sabrina Nagel. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Fairchild, Sr.

Funeral services for Rea Deane will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Westmoreland City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Stewart Funeral Chapel of Westmoreland. Rae Deane will lie in-state at Stewart Funeral Chapel beginning at 3:30 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Westy Community Care Home, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
