Lavina M. Cutright
Lavina M. Cutright, 91, longtime resident of Wamego, passed away Wednesday November 4, 2009 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego.
She was born on the family farm near Rock Creek May 21, 1918 the daughter of Earl J. and Mae (Craige) Koenig. She received her elementary education from Rock Creek and later graduated from Wamego High School. She obtained her teaching license from Hays and taught children throughout St. Mary’s, Alma, Westmoreland and Wamego. On February 26, 1944, Lavina married Charles “Ben” Cutright of Wamego. He preceded her in death in 1993. She later worked at Kansas State University as head of the finance department for several years before retiring.
She is survived by: her sister Feryl Mensch of Manhattan, KS; her nephew Rollin Mensch of Manhattan, KS; her sisters-in-law, Betty Rollenhagen and husband Clint of Westmoreland, and Jackie McFarland of Westmoreland, KS; and her brother-in-law Virgil Cutright of Texas. In addition to her husband, Lavina was also preceded in death by an infant son and her sister LoRee Walters.
