Daney L. Riniker, 76, of Louisville, Kansas passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Mercy Health Center of Manhattan.
He was born November 10, 1933 in Keats, Kansas, the son of Robert and Ona (Brimer) Riniker. He attended schools in Riley and Wamego. On November 19, 1955, he married Betty L. Colson. The two of them have resided in Louisville since 1961. He worked for Martin Marietta, Koss Construction, and Brown Brothers before joining Bayer Construction Company of Manhattan. He worked at Bayer for 45 years, mostly as a Quarry Superintendant before his retirement. Daney spent his retirement years enjoying his hobbies which included raising cattle, cutting wood, sharing his sweet corn and produce from his garden, being outdoors, and always had a story or two to tell.
Daney is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty, of Louisville. Other survivors include three sons: Dirk and his wife Becky, Danny and his wife Julie, all of Wamego, and Daney and his wife Linda of Manhattan; his sister, Lois Ann Rosencutter, of Texas; his nine grandchildren: Derek, Amanda, Dylan, Katie, Amy Eric, Megan, and Cody Riniker, all of Wamego, and Brandon and his wife Cyndee Washington of Topeka. He also has two great-grandchildren: Kaelee and Keena. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Don and Bobby, and one sister: Mary Sutton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 24 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Louisville Cemetery. Mr. Riniker will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Louisville Cemetery Fund or the American Heart Association, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
