Eugene “Bud” Anthony Zoeller, 78, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at Wamego City Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1931 in Wamego, Kansas, the son of Albinius “Biny” and Victoria (Weixelman) Zoeller. He attended school in Flush. He entered the Army in January, 1953 and was discharged in December, 1954 with a rank of Corporal. On June 2, 1959, he married Sarah “Suzie” Ridder, who preceded him in death in 2002. He owned and operated Bud’s Garage from 1964 – 1997, and was a member of the American Legion Post 17 in Manhattan. In his retirement, Bud enjoyed camping, sitting under the shade tree, and tinkering with his mechanical things.
Bud is survived by three children: Mike of Manhattan, Tim and his wife Sandy of Olsburg, and Brenda Oswalt and her husband Ron of Wamego; his sisters, Mary Ann McClure of Wabaunsee, and Betty Lou Ridder of Fowler; his fourteen grandchildren: Chris, Chelsea, Kelsey, Casey, Jamie, Jessica, Jordan, Trent, Kirstin, Brooklynn, Skyler, Landry, Dustin and Jennifer. He also has seven great-grandchildren: Trent, Zachary, Ryker, Brynna, Koyer, Ambree and Kailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Suzie, one brother: Joseph, and one sister: Jeannine Blakley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 5 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Flush. Mr. Zoeller will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Bud Zoeller Memorial Fund, which will be designated later, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
