Nancy Elisabeth Taylor

September 20, 1954 — March 24, 2010

Nancy Elisabeth (Clyde) Taylor, 55, of Westmoreland, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at St. Marys Health Center, in St. Marys, Kansas. Nancy was born September 20, 1954 in Sundance, Wyoming, the daughter of Harold and Mary Elizabeth (Rankin) McCollum. She attended Osage grade school and graduated from Upton High School. Nancy married Robert Cowger in 1973, in Wyoming. She later married Neal Taylor in 1979, they then moved to Westmoreland in 1981, where she had resided ever since. Nancy was employed by USD 323, for a few years where she enjoyed the company and interaction with the kids. Nancy’s favorite occupation was a homemaker and mother to her children. Nancy was a caring mother and loved her kids and grandkids and enjoyed being a part in their lives. She always put others before herself. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and was an avid reader. For the past 13 years Nancy always had the strength and courage clear until the end, fighting through congestive heart failure in 1997 and a heart transplant in 2000. No matter what the problem was she always found the positive in life. While even struggling with her own health, she was able to help a mother and child who had been diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome, by helping with information and questions about the diagnoses. Her survivors include her 2 daughters: Krista (Cowger) Morris and husband Christopher, and their children: Mckynzie Renae, Kassandra Lynn and Korinne Elisabeth, all of Wamego, KS; Lindsey Taylor of Holton, KS; a son Quentin Taylor and wife Jessica, and their children Kacen William, Bayley Irene, Bradyn Webb, Caden Michael and Mackenzie Dawn, all of Des Moines, Iowa; eight brothers and sisters: Susan Shell, Robert Clyde, Russell Clyde, Barbara Percifield, Vernon Clyde, Vicki Sutherland, Wayne Clyde, and Jim Clyde; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Ginger Hartshorn; and a son Nathan Cowger. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Westmoreland City Cemetery. Nancy will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Nancy Taylor Memorial Fund, which will be designated later. Memorials may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
