Chris A. Parker, 34, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, due to Pancreatic Cancer.
Chris was born July 3, 1975 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Wayne L. and Margaret J. (Gwennap) Parker. He attended Westmoreland Grade School and graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1993. He also graduated from Kansas State University with a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics. Chris worked as the branch manager of the Westmoreland Farmer’s Co-Op for the last eight years. He married Pamela Stutzman on January 8, 2005. She survives of their home in Wamego.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego and had been a volunteer and very active in the Boy Scout Troop 92 of Wamego and Troop 97 of Westmoreland. He enjoyed auto racing and raced his own stock car. He was an avid KSU and Philadelphia Eagles fan, loved to travel, and had been working on his goal of traveling to all 50 states with the kids.
Survivors also include his parents; his children, Cheyenne, Cody, Chelsea, and Cassidy Filbert, all of the home; one brother, Lee Parker of Garnett, KS; grandparents, Bernis Parker of Manhattan and James Gwennap of Smith Center, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; and “Buddy Parker” his English Bulldog.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego. Cremation will follow funeral services. Chris will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 5th at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with a visitation from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to: Boy Scouts Troop 92, The Hope Lodge, or to the Chris Parker Fund/First National Bank of Wamego to be designated for the children, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O.
