Alma – Aleta Faye (Hupfer) Katt, of Alma, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare – Topeka.
She was born August 24, 1935 in rural Russell County on the family farm, and was the daughter of Clarence J. and Mildred I. (Stumpff) Hupfer. She graduated from Dorrance (Kansas) High School in 1953, and Brown-Mackie Business School, Salina, in 1954. Aleta married Quentin L. Katt on June 24, 1955 in Salina. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Aleta was self-employed as a day care provider for approximately 40 years. She loved gardening, being around children, reading, working on puzzles, being outdoors, and bird watching from her porch. She was also very active in her church and community.
She is survived by her three sons: Quentin Bradley Katt and his wife Ann of Andover, Dean Katt and his wife Ronda of Ottawa, and Eddie Katt and his wife Karen of St. Charles, MO; her three daughters: Dr. Diana Katt of Alma, Susan Schrader of Alma, and Jean Anne Katt of Kansas City, MO; her three brothers: Clayton, John and Dennis Hupfer and their families; her 14 grandchildren: Amy, Jonny, Abby, Caroline, Kale, Michael, Christopher, Stephanie, Jeremy, Grady, Andrew, Matt, Elyse and Luke; and her 4 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ashlyn, Leah and Kailee. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Delene Gilmore.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Peace United Church of Christ, Alma. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Aleta will lie in-state beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10th at Peace UCC, with a visitation until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, or the Evangelical Children’s Home, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Alma, P.O.
