Arlene J. Ubel Bluthardt, 82, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center of Wamego.
Arlene was born November 29, 1927 in Wamego, Kansas, the daughter of Ames Benjamin and Eva M. (Klingensmith) Regnier. She attended Broderick Rural Grade School and graduated from Wamego High School in 1945. She married Lawrence E. Ubel on February 8, 1948, he preceded her in death in January, 1967. She married Robert Bluthardt on November 29, 1970. He preceded her in death in November, 1998.
Prior to getting married, Arlene worked as a telephone operator at Wamego Telephone Company. She then earned her teaching certificate and taught for a short time. Arlene worked at Bit-O-Gold Cheese Factory in Wamego from 1967-68, and then at KSU in Derby Food Center until 1970.
She is survived by her daughter, Loleta M. (Ubel) Sump and her husband Larry, of Wamego, and her son Lawrence E. Ubel, Jr. and his wife Dee, of Wheaton; a sister, Damie Jo Shade, of Wamego; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her sister Jeanellen Frazee.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 12th at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with family greeting friends prior to the Rosary from 9:30 to service time. Graveside funeral services will follow in Wamego City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to P.R.N. Homecare of Wamego, or Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center of Wamego.
