Martha Lucille “Lu” Thibodeau Manhattan - Martha Lucille “Lu” Thibodeau, 77, of Manhattan, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Martha was born in Fulton, Missouri on February 3, 1933, the daughter of Burton Crane Smith and Ellen Ruth (Miller) Smith. She was a resident of the Alta Vista and Manhattan area since 1975. She worked as a service worker for others, and most importantly enjoyed taking care of her family and was dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Martha was very helpful to children of St. Jude Hospital and the Boys Town of Nebraska. Martha was preceded in death by her parents Burton and Ellen, and two sisters, Nadene and Jean. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Frazier, Paola, KS; four sons, Tony Thibodeau and his wife Jan, Emmett, KS, Dean Thibodeau, Kansas City, KS, Dale Thibodeau and his wife Joanne, Wabaunsee, KS, and Todd Thibodeau and his wife Juli, Greeley CO; two brothers, Glen and Winston; three sisters, Dorothy, Virginia, and Phylis; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, along with numerous friends and relatives. Funeral services for Martha will be Friday, April 16, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial will follow in the Wabaunsee Township Cemetery. She will lie in-state after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 with the family receiving friends for a visitation from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers a Memorial contribution may be made in Martha Thibodeau’s name to the St. Jude Hospital or Boys Town of Nebraska, and may be left in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
