Marguarite "Irene" I. Perkins Clark

Marguarite “Irene” (Edwards) Perkins Clark, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2010, at Derby Health and Rehab, in Derby, Kansas at the age of 102 years, 7 months. She previously was a resident of the Presbyterian Manor of Wichita. Irene was born in Havelock, Nebraska, on October 7, 1907, the daughter of John Ethen Edwards and Anna May (McWilliams) Edwards. She graduated from Wamego High School and lived in the Wamego and Alma, Kansas areas before moving to Wichita in 1951. Irene was a cook and also worked in retail sales and was a member of the Colonial Baptist Church in Wichita. She is survived by her three daughters, Twila May Nelson; Patricia Ann Cook and husband Homer; and Georgia Irene Porter, all of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Diana L. Anderson and husband Kevin, Brady C. Cook and wife Nancy, Brian L. Porter and wife Michelle, Chad L. Cook and wife Jamie, and Devra L. Harden and husband David; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband George T. Perkins, one son; Thomas Eugene Cooper, four brothers and two sisters. A Celebration of Irene’s Life will take place at Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Seitz, on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., in Wamego, Kansas. Irene will lie in state beginning on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 7:00p.m.-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution has been established to Presbyterian Manor, in Wichita, Kansas. Contributions may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, Kansas, 66547.
