Dorothy Elizabeth Duncan, 96, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland, Kansas.
Mrs. Duncan was born in Ohio on August 19, 1913, the daughter of Anna and Oliver Cutright. In 1915, she moved to Louisville, Kansas and was raised by her grandparents. She graduated from Louisville High School in 1931 and taught in rural schools for six years.
She married Charles F. Duncan on April 26, 1937. He preceded her in death. She worked at the Kansas State University Chemistry department for several years. Mrs. Duncan belonged to the Lily Rebecca Lodge No. 77, Wamego Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star (50-year member), Wamego Senior Citzens, IXII Clube and Merrymakers Club. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and one brother, Wayne Cutright.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kay and her husband, Larry Fechter, Wamego; three granddaughters: Kathy Corwin, Kansas City, Susan Fechter, Bonner Springs and Robyn Irvin and her husband, Mike, Manhattan; three great-granchildren: Thomas, Laura and Rachel Irvin, Manhattan.
Funeral services for Mrs. Duncan will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. Burial will follow in the Louisville Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 1:00 p.m., until service time.
