Darlene Marie Williams, 65, a longtime resident of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Wamego City Hospital.
Darlene was born December 10. 1944 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of George J. and Regina M. (Wittman) Kippes. She was raised in Silver Lake, Kansas, and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1962. She graduated from Washburn University of Topeka in 1966.
She moved to Wamego when she began working at Wamego City Hospital as the Medical Lab Director. Darlene continued working in that position for 28 years, of which she enjoyed her job and the people she worked with very much. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego and a past member of Beta Sigma Phi. She loved her flowers and gardens, being outdoors, reading and traveling, but mostly loved her family and time with them.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Dawn M. Gaboury and her husband Jon, of Fort Riley, KS; one sister, Geneva Paternoster, Topeka, KS; 3 grandchildren, Dakota, Samantha, and Jonathan. She also leaves behind her two dogs that she loved very much, Cindy Lou and Bleu. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Alvernie, and two sisters, Connie VandeVelde and Cathy Wirtz.
Funeral services for Darlene will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19th at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. She will lie in-state beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday, with the family greeting friends until time of the service. Burial services will follow in Mt.
