Charlotte M. (Hunt) Prockish, 76, of Westmoreland, Kansas passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Wamego City Hospital. She was born March 4, 1934 in Twin Mounds, Kansas, south of Olsburg, on the family farm. Charlotte was the daughter of Charles and Emily (Robinson) Hunt. She moved to Westmoreland in 1946, where she graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1952. Just after graduation on May 25, 1952 she married Vernon J. Prockish, in Westmoreland, he survives. Charlotte was a homemaker and also worked from 1982-1997 as a housekeeper and later as a supervisor of Hayward Hall, at Kansas State University and was a finalist for the Classified Employee of the Year Award in 1994. Charlotte loved her family and enjoyed going to all of her kids and grandkids activities. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and loved animals. Charlotte is survived by her husband Vernon of the home; 2 sons: Joe Prockish and wife Nancy, Westmoreland, and Tim Prockish and wife Anna, Salina, KS; 2 daughters: Cindy Collins and husband Sam and Lori Buss and husband Bob, all of Westmoreland; 1 sister Janie Fern Hale of Manhattan, KS; 9 grandchildren: Todd (Christy) Prockish, Mandy (Derrick) Thomas, Justin Collins, Adam Prockish and fiancé Heidi Zabloudil, Kimberly Prockish, Kassie (Jon) Mailhot and Ryan, Tyler and Trystan Buss, and 5 great-grandchildren: Heidi, Taylor and Megan Prockish and Tregen and Jayden Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers, Nile and Abe. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Westmoreland City Cemetery, Westmoreland. Charlotte will lie in-state beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the casket will remain closed. Family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Charlotte Prockish Memorial Fund, which will be designated at a later date and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, Kansas 66547.
