Henry Frederick Grieshaber, 103, a lifetime resident of the Wells Creek Community, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at Homestead Assisted Living, Topeka, KS.
He was born April 13, 1907, to William J. and Caroline V. (Treiber) Grieshaber in rural Wabaunsee County, in the Wells Creek Community. He attended and was confirmed at Wells Creek Emanuel UCC as a youth and attended the Greenwood School.
On March 26, 1939, Henry married Viva May (Tabler) in Wells Creek; she preceded him in death on June 3, 2003. Henry was a Vermillion 4-H leader for many years, a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Wamego, the Farmers Union Co-Op and served on the Belvue Township Board for many years. Henry was a lifetime farmer and gardener who loved sharing his produce with his family, friends and neighbors. He loved being a farmer and was very proud to be a 4-H leader. He was also an avid John Deere fan and owner.
Henry is survived by his daughter: Kay Ping and husband Bob, of Topeka, KS; 2 grandchildren: Julie Seidel and husband Mike, Houston, TX and David Ping and wife Wendy, Olathe, KS; a brother Carl and wife Ronnie of St. Marys, KS and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Otto, and Bill Grieshaber and one sister, Mary.
Funeral services for Mr. Grieshaber will be held at 10:30a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery. Henry will lie in-state at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego beginning at 1:00 p.m., Friday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the 1st Presbyterian Church of Wamego, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O.
