Dixie Faye Shivley

Dixie Faye Shivley, 63, passed away January 7, 2007 at her home. Born on May 3, 1943 in Washington, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Richard and Gladys (Laughinghouse) Cratch. On August 17, 1961, she married Charles R. Shivley in Hampton, Virginia. He preceded her in death less than three months ago on October 30, 2006 Dixie worked for ten years at the Manhattan SRS Office as their clerk, but in her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren. After her stroke five years ago she still found a way to keep in touch with her friends through her computer. Dixie is survived by: her three sons, Robert G. Shivley and wife Marlene of Manhattan, KS, Charles A. Shivley and wife Tracy of Kansas City, MO, and Kenneth Shivley of Manhattan, KS; her daughter Dixie M. Shepherd and husband Bernard of Alma, KS; her brothers, Roger and Jimmy Cratch of North Carolina; and her grandchildren, Jessica, Seth, Taylor, Daniel, Samuel, Alex, Olivia, Elizabeth, Joseph and Gabriel. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Summer Abigail Shivley. Funeral services for Mrs. Shivley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with a visitation Thursday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS. She will lie in-state at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
