Adella Ruth Thowe Oberg Gaston, 91, of Dwight, KS, passed away June 7, 2018 in Manhattan, Kansas.
Funeral service will be held at Marion Hill Lutheran Church, White City, KS on June 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Anita Strommen officiating.
Adella was born in Osawatomie, KS to William and Sophie (Schreiber) Thowe on August 1, 1926. She went to Alma High School and graduated in 1945. She went on to work in Topeka, KS at the Hallmark Card Co. after high school. She married Bernardin Oberg in 1951. They lived on the family farm raising cattle & crops in White City until his death. She then married Blaine Gaston in 1970. They traveled the USA and Mexico extensively for 30 years in their RV until no longer able to travel.
Adella is preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophie Thowe; a sister Marlene Briscoe; her husband’s Benardin Oberg and Blaine Gaston; step-son Ronald Gaston and step-daughter Rita Falter.
Adella is survived by her sisters Deloris Haller, Wilma Hafenstein, Evelyn (Denny) Davis and Arvilla Lloyd; a son Carl Oberg; daughters Brenda (Larry) Maguire and Karen (Brett) Denzel; step-sons Kenton (Hazel) Gaston, Gary (Edna) Gaston and Tommy (Joyce) Gaston; step-daughter Phyllis McDiffitt; five grandchildren Travis, Todd & Lance Maguire, Nicole (Jeammy) Murillo and Gavin (Maggie) Ratcliff; and 3 great-grandsons Caleb & Jackson Ratcliff and Sebastian Murillo and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
