Brent E. “Bubba” Moorman, 52, of Alma, KS, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 22, 2021.
Brent was born in Washington, KS on January 24, 1969, to Holger and Marilyn (Buttenhoff) Moorman. The family later moved to Alma, where Brent attended grade school at St. John Lutheran School and then Wabaunsee High School, graduating in 1987. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He attended Kaw Area Vo-Tech in Topeka where he studied small engine repair. His life-long career was at the Alma Co-op, starting on August 30, 1988, where he worked until his death. There he pumped gas, did vehicle oil changes, and fixed too many tires to count, along with anything else that needed to be done!
For his final showdown scene, you can remember Brent doing and loving many social events and just helping out wherever needed! Known by Farmer Bob to a few, he planted crops for his deer; he worked cattle for Papa Wertzberger and family; and he supported the West Branch Ridge Runners Turkey Federation and the Clay Shooting Sports. You could catch up with him while he was smoking meats and working on fine-tuning Bubba Jay’s BBQ. He could be spotted around town driving his “mule” name Ruth after Festus’ mule from Gunsmoke. And then there were the numerous birthday celebrations known as BubbaFest to his friends all around the Alma community and even a few surrounding states!
Brent is survived by his three sisters, Brenda Moorman of Topeka, Beth Peters of St. George, and Bonnie Moorman of Manhattan; nephew Michael Peters (Rebekah) and niece Amanda Quinsey (Tremayne); great nephew Isaac and great niece Ava, all of Manhattan; Aunt Cheryl Buttenhoff of Alma; cousin Sarah Lister (Laramie); adopted Aunt Roxann and Uncle Pat Maike; many cousins, classmates, and countless “brothers from other mothers.”
He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, Uncle Earl Buttenhoff, cousin Morgan Miller, Aunt Willetta Meier, Aunt Leona Damman, Aunt Esther Meyer, and Aunt Rachel Diggs.
The last goodbye is the hardest one to say. #BubbaRest
