Chris C. Langvardt, 67, of Belvue, Kansas, passed away in Manhattan, Kansas on Monday, August 20, 2018.
Chris was born in Dodge City, Kansas, June 13, 1951, the son of Chris W. and Lois (Moore) Langvardt. In 1953, his family moved to Wamego. He attended school in Wamego and graduated from Wamego High School in the class of 1969. During that time, Chris was a starting member of the undefeated boy’s basketball 1968 state championship team. He then attended Kansas State University where he was a member of the KSU men’s basketball team his freshman year and 1969-1970 season. The following year, he transferred to Emporia State University, playing basketball there and graduating in 1973.
On August 29, 1970, Chris married Jayne Miller in Wamego. In 1976 he started his career at Balderson, Inc. of Wamego as a sales representative for over 30 years until retiring in 2007. He was an avid golfer most of his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and playing softball. Mostly, he enjoyed time with his family, grandkids and his dog.
Survivors include his wife, Jayne Langvardt of Belvue, KS; two sons: Eric Langvardt, (Jen) of Salt Lake City, UT, Tysen Langvardt, (Tasha), Wamego, KS; a sister, Janice Ramirez, (David), of Levine, AZ; one brother, Pat Langvardt, (Chris), Midland, MI; five grandchildren: McKenzie, Nealy, Adyson, Ryann, and Daxtyn Langvardt, and his cherished dog Stella. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Michael.
A visitation with family celebrating his life will be held Friday, August 24th from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. The family also invites friends to join them Saturday, August 25th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a social gathering at Iron Clad in downtown Wamego, celebrating his life. (Casual attire and the family would love to see friends in lots of purple). Chris’s wishes were to be cremated with a private inurnment in Belvue Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wamego Community Foundation c/o The Wamego Area Youth Golf Foundation, funding an annual educational scholarship, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
