Christi M. Michaud-Waterbury

View Memorial Slideshow Christi Michaud-Waterbury, 38, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Wamego Health Center on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Christi was born March 7, 1979 in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard M. and Kathleen A. (Catlin) Michaud. She attended school in Wamego, graduating in the class of 1997. Following graduation, she worked at the Friendly Cooker for a few years before working at the Wamego Short Stop as a sales clerk and the Eye Doctors of Manhattan for several years. Most recently, she was a warehouse and store manager at Dara’s Fast Lane until her fight with cancer began in 2014. She married Forrest John Waterbury on December 3, 2004. He preceded her in death in 2007. She especially enjoyed working with and meeting customers and co-workers while at the Eye Doctors and Dara’s. Christi was a very generous person, willing to help and talk to anyone whenever she could. She liked to go to garage and yard sales, always coming home with a bargain she had found. She will also be remembered for always having a smile on her face. Her survivors include her son, Wesley Michaud of Wamego, Kansas; her parents, Bernie and Kathy Michaud, Wamego, Kansas; parents-in-law, Steve and Barbara Waterbury of Texas; nieces and nephew: Katie DelaCruz (Jake) of Derby, Kansas, Alexis Michaud, Wamego, Kansas, Alley Savage (Derek), Portales, New Mexico, Grant DelaCruz (Jessica), Lees Summit, Missouri; a great-niece, Gabriella DelaCruz,; a great-nephew, Hunter Savage; her “significant other”, Shane O’Shea and his daughters, Madison, Allison, and Jaimeson, Fostoria, Kansas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jami Michaud (2001), her grandparents and an uncle, Jim Catlin. Funeral Service for Christi will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery. Christi will lie in-state Tuesday, June 6th beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
