View James Conner's Funeral Service James Alvin Conner, 80, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Wamego Health Center. James was born on June 19, 1940, in Weleeka, Oklahoma a son of William and Ophelia (Hopson) Conner. James worked as a general contractor building and working on various projects in Orange County, California. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and traveling with his family. He was a religious man who loved Jesus. He loved to dance and was known to grab anyone he was walking by and dance with them for a moment. He liked to drink Black Velvet or Coors and always had his jar of jellybeans nearby. James was very charismatic and friendly by nature, he loved to visit with everyone he met. He has developed many friendships all over the country and his smile and laughter will be greatly missed by many. James married Tweet Tanner on February 10, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. She survives in their home. Due to his health, James and Tweet moved to Wamego in August 2020 to be closer to their daughters. James is also survived by his children, Bernadine Price, Phoenix, Arizona, LaTanya D. Wright, Manhattan, Kansas, Jimmie W. Conner, Orange County, California, Vivian L. (Manny) Gross, Manhattan, Kansas, James A. Conner II, Buena Park, California; 14 grandchildren and a host of Great and Great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Shirley (Deacon) Thomas, Los Angeles, California, Bea Sims, Phoenix, Arizona, Jewel White, Phoenix, Arizona; his service dog, Baby Girl, his special friends, Chuck-up, Dane, Tim, Dan, Rigo, Thurman and a host of others. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lily Conner, Earl Conner, Mary Young and Tommy Conner. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. A visitation will begin at 1:00 pm.
