Dale Ray Poe, 66, Wamego, KS passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS.
Dale was born on June 13, 1952 to Lee and Cora (Gilbert) Poe in Sikeston, MO. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1970. At the age of 18, he went into the US Navy. He spent two to four years on active duty and in the reserves. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1982, he married Mary F. E. Southards in Chalmette, LA. She survives the home. He has worked at several businesses through the years. His favorite was cook at Wamego Hospital and making cookies for the nurses. He retired in 2012.
Dale enjoyed gardening when he could, including, camping and fishing with his family when he was younger. Dale was an avid game player and his favorite was Skyrim and Dragon Age. He loved spending time with his grandchildren the most.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Wamego, KS; three children, Christina Hobson (Troy), Belvue, KS, Andrew, Wamego, KS, and Aaron (Darci),Norman, OK; three grandchildren, Anthony, Karlee, and Stella.
He was preceded in death by his parent, eight brothers and sisters and one grandson.
Visitation for Dale will be from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at The Church of Latter Day Saints in Wamego, KS. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26th at the church. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27th at the Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson, KS. The family has suggested memorials to the National Kidney Foundation, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
