Delverna Wahl

  Delverna Sophie Wahl, 95, of Wamego and formerly of Wheaton, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Community Hospital in Onaga, KS.

  On September 18, 1922, Delverna was born to Richard and Auguste (Martin) Bosse near Wheaton, KS.  She attended Excelsior School and St. Luke Lutheran School.  She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1940 and taught five years in rural elementary schools of Pottawatomie County.  She was united in marriage with Arlynn Meyer Wahl on September 18, 1946.  In March of 1949, they moved to the farm southwest of Wheaton where he was born and raised.  He preceded her in death on October 25, 1995.

 Delverna loved helping others in need and doing work with the church. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and quilting.  Delverna was a member of St Luke Lutheran Church, St. Luke’s LWML, American Legion Auxiliary, the Sunflower Club, and most recently, a Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

  She is survived by four children, Kevin Wahl (Sherry), Blaine, KS, Neil Wahl, Wamego, KS, Lynn Wahl (Sandra), Wamego, KS, and Barbara Packham (Richard Smith), San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Marvin Bosse, Wheaton, KS, and Orlin Bosse (Loretta), Wheaton, KS; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

  She is also preceded in death by three siblings, Norman Bosse, Lolita Larsen, and Aldene Bosse; a daughter-in-law, Carol Wahl; and one great-grandchild, Ean Gordon.

  Funeral Service for Delverna will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton, KS.  Burial will follow in the Wheaton Congregational Cemetery.  Delverna will lie in-state Thursday, January 11th from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. and a prayer service held at 7:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the St. Luke Youth Group and the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
