Byron Duane Larson, 74, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at his home. He was a long-time resident of the area.
Duane was born on August 3, 1947, in Westmoreland, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Mildred (Samuelson) Larson. He attended local grade schools and graduated in 1965 from Randolph High School.
Duane worked his entire adult life as a backhoe operator. He owned and operated L and L Trenching. He loved his work and was known to be a workaholic. Duane was a steer wrestler who always enjoyed a good horse. He was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and the United Rodeo Association.
Duane married Susie Rose on April 3, 1971, in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives at their home.
Duane is also survived by his sons; Heath Larson and Chancey Larson (Katie), both of Manhattan; his granddaughter, Seeley Larson; his siblings, Colleen Roblyer, Manhattan, and Cleone Edwards, Stafford, Texas. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Warren Roblyer.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Reverend Jol Klein will be officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. They suggest memorial contributions to the Duane Larson Memorial Fund, and those may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.campanellastewart.com.
