Edward James Wilburn, 62, Wamego, KS passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS.

  Ed was born on October 23, 1956 to Leo and Peggy (Bewley) Wilburn in Atchison, KS.  He graduated from Atchison High School in 1974. At the age of 12 he began working for the Atchison Globe, starting as a Newspaper Carrier and working his way up to Circulation Manager. In 1980, he began working for Kansas State Printing Services. He oversaw the printing of The Collegian, and ended his career as the Director of Printing Services. He retired in February 2011.  He was united in marriage with Julie Lynn Kane on November 7, 1980 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Atchison. She survives of the home.

  Ed enjoyed several hobbies, including golf, watching his favorite team, the Kansas State Wildcats, and fishing with his family. Ed was an avid Kansas Cash player, never missing a drawing; and playing his lucky numbers weekly. Ed was also a great photographer. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, especially 4 and 5 point pitch. He loved spending time with his granddaughters the most.

  He is survived by three children, Alicia Guggenmos (Brett), Kansas City, MO, Joseph (Ashley), St. George, KS, and Andrew (Kate), Kansas City, MO; four siblings, Steve (Norma), Atchison, KS, Mark (Barb), Atchison, KS, Matt (Debbie), Atchison, KS, and Lisa Ricklefs (Ron), Bendena, KS; and four granddaughters, Megan, Aspen, Aurora, and Emily.

  He was preceded in death by his parents.

  Funeral Mass for Ed will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. The Burial Services will be at 3:30 P.M. at the St. Patrick Cemetery outside of Atchison, KS.  Ed will lie in-state Tuesday, February 19^th starting at 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Community Health Ministry and St. Bernard Catholic Church, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
