Esther L. Spradling, 88, of Wamego, Kansas, on January 11, 2021, at the Home of the Flint Hills.

Esther was born on July 15, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Robert Lee and Lora Peterson Smith. At the age of five, Esther was adopted and raised by Clifford and Gladys Wonderly.

Esther was a homemaker and an artist and author. She taught art lessons in her home and wrote books and poetry. She took the beauty of life and put it all in her oil paintings and wall murals, to share with the world.
The kindness of her words and her helping-hand spirit let you know you were special. Her giving spirit and exceptional search for the Lord’s word, as a mother, grandmother, teacher and Kansas artist, will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Esther married Donald L. Spradling on June 22, 1953, in Casper, Wyoming. He survives at their home.

Esther is also survived by her children; Ronald E. Spradling (Cathy), Pine City, Minnesota, Jeffrey “JD” Spradling, Ottawa, and Lora Herman (Terry), Wamego; grandchildren, Breeonna Wade (Frank), Paola, Brandii Spradling, Olathe, Jennifer Boatwright (JD), Alma, Ben Woodley, Denver; great-grandchildren, Finley, Preston, Jasmine, Marek, and Austin; Step-grandchildren, Bobby Harris, Houston, Texas, Ashley Herman, Kansas City, Kendal Gerkovich (Nick), and Kiel Herman (Amy), both of Kansas City; step-great-grandchildren, Lacey, Allysa, Layton, Lucy, and Bella; and her sisters, Cordia Hinderer and Katheryn Broderson.
