Gary Neil Gordon, 75, of St. George, KS passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Via Christi Village in Manhattan, KS.
On February 27, 1942, Gary was born to James “Huston” and Helen (Burgess) Gordon in rural Pottawatomie County, KS. Gary graduated from Wamego High School in 1960. He was united in marriage with Nancy Winklepleck and they later divorced.
Gary loved working on and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting, hunting for arrowheads, and riding horses. Gary was a very talented floor covering installer. He also owned a carpet store in St. George for years and served as Mayor of St. George.
He is survived by two children, Tony Gordon (Tamara), and Tina Ayotte, all of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Blake Ayotte, Brianna Quesada, Sabrinna Sparks, and Corynne Notz, all of Colorado Springs, CO; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Ben Gordon, Roland Gordon, Jim Gordon, Mary Austin, and Becky Lindbloom.
Memorial service for Gary will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in St. George, KS. Inurnment will follow at the St. George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials the Lighthouse Baptist Church, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.Visits: 7
