On Sunday, March 9, 2025, Glenn D. Tracy was called in his sleep to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born August 6, 1938, in Harper County Hospital in Harper, Kansas, Glenn was the son of Edwin R. and Maxine (Hoch) Tracy. At age 9, the family moved to a farm south of Winfield, Kansas where Glenn attended school in the rural school district and graduated from Winfield High School in 1957. He furthered his education at Wichita University where he earned a Bachelor of Geology Degree.
On October 5, 1963, Glenn married Ruth Carol Simon in St. Louis, Missouri. She survives of the home.
Glenn enlisted in the U. S. Navy Reserve in 1962, serving in active duty as a courier and admin officer in Rota, Spain. He left active service in 1967. He was recalled into the service where he proudly served as a navigator, retiring as a Lt. Commander with 22 years of service to his country.
Glenn was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alma. He was also a member of the Manhattan American Legion Post No. 17, Military Officers Association of America and a Sustaining Member of ROA. Professionally he was a member of the Kansas Geological Society, and Emeritus Member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, photography, and reading specifically literature and historical novels.
Glenn was not afraid to take on new challenges in his career and moved around the country with Ruth at his side. Glenn was a Geologist and transitioned into the field of insurance and safety, where he spent several years supporting large industries. He worked for Factory Insurers in St. Louis, Missouri, from 1967 to 1977, gaining valuable experience before moving to Wichita, Kansas, where he served as a Geologist until 1986. His diligent attention to detail led him to American Risk Management in Dallas, Texas, where he worked as a Fire and Safety Engineer from 1986 to 1991, covering parts of Texas, Louisiana and South America. Glenn entered into chemical work, focusing on chemical and steel plants at Hartford Steam Boilers in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, before working for Industrial Risk Insurers in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1995. His last employment, in Warren, Michigan, was with Pinkerton Security and Insurance which later became Securitas where he oversaw the fire and safety for GM plants around the United States, before retiring in 2007.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth; his children, Robert K. Tracy (Jenifer Dodd) of Broomfield, CO; and Carol L. White (Dallas J.) of Wamego, KS; and a sister, Ann Elizabeth Holloway of Ardmore, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
