Isabel Elizabeth Picolet, age 91, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Americus, Kansas.
She was born on November 3, 1933, in Blue Springs, Nebraska, the daughter of Leslie and Bertha (Shelly) White, where she was raised on a farm in Nebraska.
Isabel married Dean Leroy Piolet on December 21, 1952, in Beatrice, Nebraska. Together they lived in various small communities in Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa.
She devoted her life to her family and her work. Isabel served as the postmaster in McFarland for 12 years and was a dedicated employee at Alma Manor for 30 years, retiring at the age of 81 as a housekeeper and Certified Nursing Assistant.
Isabel was known for her loving and compassionate personality, exemplifying hard work in all that she did. Family was of utmost importance, and she was actively involved in her faith community at Skyline Heights in Maple Hill, KS. Isabel cherished gardening and earned recognition as the lady in McFarland who sewed teddy bears. She also took on leadership roles in both Sunday school and the Girl Scouts.
Isabel is survived by her three daughters: Linda Flanary, Wanda White, and Debbie Brand, sister Karen Collins, grandchildren: Craig (Jennifer) Flanary, Scott (Kristen) Flanary, Heather (Garrett) Smith, Cambra (Mike) McGuire, Natasha Page Bencke, Jody Brand, and Patrick Brand, great-grandchildren, Connor Flanary, Prudence Flanary, Kiel Flanary, Riley Flanary, Kinsey Flanary, Rinley Flanary, Brittney Schultz, Nicholas Schultz, Zoey McGuire, and Hunter Brand.
Isabel was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Leroy Picolet; her parents, Leslie and Bertha White; her brothers Marvin, Bobby, Eldon, Eugene, David, and Samuel White; her sisters Mary Scheele, Verna Clement, and Betty Gritz; and her grandchildren John Robert Brand and Lysandra Kay Bencke, along with her son-in-law Wayne Brand.
A Visitation will be held at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego, KS, on March 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Skyline Heights Faith Center and can be left in the care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
