Joanne Hope Gladfelder

  Joanne Hope Gladfelder, 82, Wamego, KS passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego.

  On October 24, 1935, Joanne, was born the youngest of ten children to Walter and Nellie (Harrington) King in Centerville, Iowa.  Joanne worked for USD #320 at West Elementary School for 35 years.  She was united in marriage with Robert Charles Gladfelder on June 15, 1956 in Moravia, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on December 30, 1986.

  Joanne enjoyed going to the casino and fishing and camping trips with her husband.  She also enjoyed her cats at home.  She loved working with children at the school and after her retirement, going to lunch on Fridays with her fellow retiree friends.

  She is survived by a son, Larry Gladfelder and his fiancé, Sandy Wilson, Nixa, MO; a brother, Waldo “Tuff” King, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jamie Flor, Jacksonville, FL, Scott Gladfelder, Springfield, MO, and Jason Gladfelder, Des Moines, IA; a great-grandchild, Emma Flor; and several nieces and nephews.

  She is also preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Gene, Bill, Tom, John, Jack, Max, and Charles “Luck”; and a sister, Nellie Power.

  A graveside service for Joanne will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Wamego City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to USD #320 to help less fortunate children K-5^th with school lunches, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
