John Buel Adams, Jr. “Jack”, 96, of Lawrence, Kansas, formerly of Deerfield, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at the Olathe Medical Center. He had moved to Lawrence in 2014 from Deerfield to be close to family.
Jack was born on December 22, 1925, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the son of John B. Adams, Sr. and Mabel (Hallows) Adams. Jack graduated from Rocky Ford High School and then served during WWII in the Army Air Corps.
Jack spent most of his adult life as a farmer and stockman operating a farm near Deerfield. His passion was his farming.
On April 18, 1946, Jack married Patsy “Pat” Marshall in Syracuse, Kansas. After sixty-seven years of marriage, she preceded him in death on May 25, 2013.
Jack is survived by his daughters; Wendy Adams, Manhattan, Mikell Adams, Lawrence, Connie Adams (Randy Goodwin), Lawrence, and Catherine Adams, Garden City; his sons, John Adams, Phoenix, Arizona, and Ralph Adams (Cathy), Topeka; his grandchildren, Christopher Adams, Ted Adams, Kristen Hunnicutt, Blake Bolan, Erin Leivestad, and Jordan Crice; his great-grandchildren, Lakin Adams, Tague Adams, Maddie Leivestad, Micael Leivestad, Rosey Leivestad, Keaton Henry (Mariah), Chloe Hunnicutt, Malachi Hunnicutt, and Jaxon Hunnicutt; his great-great grandson, Aaron Henry; and his sister, Susie Seacrist, of Idaho. Jack was also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Richard Adams, Larry Adams, and Joyce Yeater.
In Jack’s later years, one of the things he liked to do best was to take a pleasant drive in the country while enjoying a strawberry milkshake. His family suggests that in lieu of flowers or memorials, in Jack’s memory, take your family for a drive and everyone enjoy a strawberry shake.
