Katherine Irene Noland

December 10, 1930 — April 10, 2021

Katherine Irene (Delfs) Noland: Born: 12-10-1930 Born to Eternal Life: 04-10-2021 The oldest of four, Katherine was born in St. George, KS on December 10, 1930 to Henry and Emma (Correll) Delfs. She grew up in Alma, KS, graduating from Alma High School in 1948. On November 7, 1948, she married Donald Noland Jr. They were married for 72 years and blessed with three children. Being married for 72 years, Katherine set a shining example of a love that endures through the good times and bad. During their years together they enjoyed living in various locations, most recently residing in Pittsburg, KS. Katherine is survived by her husband, Donald Noland Jr., her children Donald (Theresa) Noland III Pittsburg, KS, Denise (Patrick) Purvis Pittsburg, KS David (Beth) Noland Olathe, KS her sister, Penny (Larry) Nider of Rossville, KS 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Katherine was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Mary Anne Kasburg; brother, Charles Delfs; and great grandson, Hunter Williams. It is said we are the authors of our own life story. From birth until our passing, we write the chapters. Katherine was blessed to have many chapters and each one was meaningful to those who loved her. She taught her children so much about life, love and growing up. She provided them with a wonderful foundation to write their own stories. To her husband, children and all of her family, Katherine (Katie) was a guiding light. She set an example of what a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend could be. She was patient with her children which, at times, could be a huge task. She loved playing ball with them, taking them fishing, and using her expert seamstress skills to make all their clothes. She was an avid reader, loved to golf, enjoyed painting and was always ready to dance. Don’s work required several moves over the years and she never complained. The family moved to El Dorado, Independence, Chanute, and Hays before the children left home. Don and Katie also lived in Lamar. CO and Ness City before retirement. Katie managed to make a loving home in each place and filled that home with lots of memories. Katie and Don retired in Bella Vista, AR and enjoyed many years of golfing, social and church activities. The family joke was the parents had more of a social life than any of their children. As the years progressed, Katie and Don moved to Olathe, KS to be closer to family. Above all, Katie cherished her family and set the bar high for her children. She was their biggest fan and always managed to let each of them know how special they were. She was most proud of her growing family of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchild. To family and friends the world has certainly changed with her passing. The sky isn’t quite as blue and the sun not as warm, but the matriarch of the family was tired; she had run the good race and fought the good fight. Her legacy continues.
