Kenneth "Kenny" L. Carr

Kenneth “Kenny” L. Carr, 78, of Westmoreland, KS, passed away October 24, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.

Kenny was born November 24, 1939 in Olsburg, KS, the son of Everett and Luella (Campbell) Carr. They preceded him in death. He attended several local schools and graduated from Wheaton High School. In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea and then in the reserves until 1968. Following his discharge from the Army, he went to work as a truck driver for Galen Blenn Trucking in Westmoreland. Then, in 1978, he started his own trucking business which he operated for 39 years until retiring in 2017.

In 1963, Kenny married Evelyn LaMar. She preceded him in death in 1964. He then married Karen Butler in 1970 at Marysville, KS. She survives of the home. Also surviving are two siblings: Bonnie Cravens (Wayne) of Manhattan, KS, Dean Carr (Kathy) of Ozawkie, KS; his son, Jeff Miller (Kathy) of Rochester, Minn.; two daughters: Crystal Sue Griffin (Robert) of Wheaton, KS, and Martha Griffee (Carl) of Manhattan, KS; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Oney Hall (1985); a son, Lonnie Carr (2001); 2 sisters, Hazel Carr (2014), Eunice Dugan (2015); and his step-mom Mary Carr (2014).

Services celebrating Kenneth’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2018, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery north of Fostoria, KS. A visitation will be held prior to his service beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
