Larry “LP” William Post, 77, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Wamego, Kansas, passed away February 15, 2019 in Houma, Louisiana.

Larry was born in Wamego, Kansas on July 17, 1941, the son of Clifford William and Thelma Josephine (Klein) Post. He attended school in Wamego and graduated from Wamego High School.  Following high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, serving as a jet airplane mechanic during the Viet Nam war.

After his discharge from the Navy, Larry returned to the Topeka, Kansas area and started working in the construction and excavation work. He eventually started his own excavation company, LP’s Excavating, Inc. in Topeka, operating it for over 30 years.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors, working outdoors, hunting and fishing. He always looked forward to his deer hunting trips each season in North West Kansas, and fishing in Louisiana and Cabo, Mexico with his buddies.

Larry is survived by one brother, Louis Post and his wife Deb of Manhattan, Kansas; one sister, Jan Zink and her husband Leon of Lebo, Kansas, several nieces and nephews, and many friends in Kansas and Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wiley and Lonny; and a sister, Nancy.

A private Celebration of life and inurnment with military honors will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Wamego City Cemetery.
