Lester William Eichem, 88, Louisville, KS passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS.
On April 26, 1930 Les was born to Lawrence and Anna (Prockish) Eichem near Wamego, KS. He was united in marriage with Maxine Josephine Straub on June 18, 1952 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. She survives of the home.
Les spent most of his life farming. He enjoyed playing bingo and attending family sporting events. Les took part in several Christmas and 4th of July parades as well as taking care of the Louisville ball field for several years.
He is also survived by two daughters, Vicki Ritchie (Charlie), McFarland, KS, and Martie Baker (Kevin), Wamego, KS; a brother, Don Eichem, Wamego, KS; six grandchildren, Chuck Ritchie, Michael Baker, Mathew Baker, Billy Jo Eichem, Rennee Ritchie, and Joceline Eichem; eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Haley, Nicole, Jack, John, Kyler, Trapper, Cutter, Carsyn, Corvyn, and Cowyn; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Wendy Eichem and Ted Eichem; and a twin brother, Lee Eichem.
Funeral Mass for Les will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, KS. Private graveside services will be held at a later date in the Louisville Cemetery. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17th at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Memorials are suggested to the St. Bernard Catholic Church, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
