Lorna J Etienne

   Lorna Jane Etienne, 82, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Monday (March 6, 2023) at Wamego Health Center.

   Born December 29, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas, Lorna was the daughter of John and Irene (Wege) Lyon.  She married Harold Gene Etienne on January 4, 1956 in Westmoreland, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on May 22, 2014.

   Lorna was employed as a nurse in the surgical unit of the Wamego Health Center.  She was also an EMT and drove the ambulance for the hospital.

   Lorna had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed oil painting after taking a class in Branson Missouri,. She loved to sew and quilt and made many clothes for the family growing up. Her favorite was to make Easter dresses for her two granddaughters every year.  Lorna was in a bowling league for several years with friends but her favorite hobby was growing and planting flowers and gardening. In the Early years she would host Sunday morning breakfast for friends. The smell of frying Bacon and fresh cinnamon rolls while country music playing on the WiFi. She was an excellent cook.

   Harold and Lorna were very devoted to public service. Harold did police work and Lorna was into the medical field. Nursing and even ambulance driving.  Together they gave countless hours of service and missed many holiday dinners to serve their community.  

   Survivors include two sons, Randy Etienne (Shannon) and Rodney Etienne (Kendra) both of Wamgeo; five grandchildren, Anthony Etienne (Tyler), Clinton Etienne (Ashley), Michael Reid, Amber Etienne and Emilie Etienne; seven great grandchildren, Karson, Tucker, Gracelyn, Lincoln, Shane, Addyson & Jayla; and many nieces and nephews.

   Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a half brother, Robert Lyon; and two half sisters, Dorothy Fleming and Lucy Nachtman.

   The family will meet with friends at a visitation on Friday evening (March 10, 2023) from 6:00 to 8:00 at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

    Private burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery.
