Wamego, Kansas

 Melody F. Rutschmann, 65, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Saturday (February 8, 2025) at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

 Born July 3, 1959 in Manhattan, Kansas, Melody was the daughter of Charles and Fredele “Ruth” (Kensing) Lake III. She married Jim C. Rutschmann on February 14, 1990 in Manhattan, Kansas. He survives.

 Melody was an accomplished cook and enjoyed reading, arts & crafts, crocheting and going camping with Jim.

 Melody devoted her life to caring for her husband and children. She cherished the time she shared with family, especially her grandchildren who will miss their grandma dearly.

 Survivors include her husband, Jim; her mother, Fredele “Ruth” Lake of Alma, KS; three children, Josh Lake (Stephanie) of Golden Valley, MN, Sam Rutschmann (Amy Miernicki) of Wamego and Jennifer Rutschmann (Marshall Musser) of Wamego; her five grandchildren, Zayne Reed, Henry Lake, Elizabeth Lake, Reese Musser and Tripp Musser; two brothers, John Schoenberner and Charles “Charlie” Lake IV (Mary); two sisters, Angie Harrison and Charmin Miller (Dan); and several nieces and nephews.

 Melody was preceded in death by her father, Charles.

 Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. The family will host a celebration of life for Melody at a later date.

 Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and those may be sent to Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, P. O. Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
