Michael Wayne Stewart

   Michael Wayne Stewart 64, of Wamego, Kansas, owner of Reliable Appliance Service, died Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Heath in Topeka.  He was a life-long resident of the area.

   Mike was born on July 18, 1959, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Cleveland R. Stewart, Sr. and Linda F. Hamilton Stewart.  He attended Manhattan schools.  Mike enlisted into the United States Army where he served as an Administrative Specialist in the Medical Company at Fort Riley and then in Alaska.

   Mike worked his entire adult life as an appliance service technician, first in 1982 with his father-in-law, Ken Wilson, in Manhattan and then in 1992 as the owner of Reliable Appliance Service in Wamego.

   Mike was a past member of the American Legion, was an avid bowler for the Elk’s team in Manhattan and then in the Wamego bowling League.  He loved to hunt and fish, but one of his passions was his weekly poker game.  He and a special group of friends played every Saturday night for thirty years.

   Mike married Sharon Wilson on December 17, 1982, in St. George, Kansas.  After sharing their lives for forty one years, Sharon survives at their home.

   Mike is also survived by his children; Shawn Wilson, Manhattan, Jaymie Stewart, Wamego, and Amber Cammarn (Johnnie), Junction City; his grandchildren, Peyton Cammarn and Shelby Stewart.  Mike also was considered grandpa to Austin, Santana, Cierra and Karissa.  He is survived by his siblings, Sadala Stewart Garcia of Scranton, Arkansas and her husband, Charles King of Huntsville, Alabama, and Cleveland Stewart Jr., of New Blaine, Arkansas; and his brothers-in-law, Ron Mulanax (Kaye), St. George, Ken Wilson, Jr., (Zann), Manhattan; sisters-in-law Linda Bolek (Abe), Riley, and Helen Kraemer (Mike), Manhattan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland & Linda Stewart Sr.

   Funeral services with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 9, 2024, at Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.  Mike will lie-in-state beginning at 11:00 am prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses, and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.campanellastewart.com.
