Otis Arthur Boardman, Sr., 88, of Westmoreland, Kansas, died Thursday, March 27, 2025, at his home.
Otis was born on February 10, 1937, in Summersville, West Virginia, the son of James and Prudence (Brown) Boardman. He attended local schools and then joined and served in the United States Navy.
Otis worked most of his adult life as a welder for the Boilermakers Union. He worked on power plants around the United States.
He married Linda Jo Reid on July 16, 1960, in Junction City. They shared over sixty-four years together and lived in numerous places in Kansas, Louisiana, and Florida. Otis loved to travel, so no matter where they lived, they would explore the country. Linda says she was swept off her feet when they meant with his good-looks and charm. Linda survives him at their home.
Otis also enjoyed antique cars and owned six different Kit Cars. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union 83, in Kansas City, and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He enjoyed camping, fishing and he loved the time he could spend with his family. He was an outstanding father and grandfather.
Otis is also survived by his daughters; Susan Hollinghead (Jay), Caryn Lloyd (Terry), and Catherine Hensley (Emery); his grandchildren, Sarah Brady, Kristen Gilliland (Jack), Amanda Vathauer (Brady), and James Lloyd; his great-grandchildren, Addison Brady, Ethan Brady, Caitlin Kahrs (Cody), Benjamin Vathauer, Brooks Vathauer, and Raelynn Vathauer; his two great-great grandchildren and four half-sisters; and his brother John Boardman. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Otis Boardman, Jr., his granddaughter, Alysia Sue Powell, his brother, James Boardman and his sister, Ethel Boardman.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Family Worship Center in Wamego. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Wamego Family Worship Center and those may be sent in care of the funeral home.
