October 12, 1929 — December 1, 2017

Pearletta Jean (Habluetzel) Smith, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 1, 2017. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 16 at Wamego Cemetery. Pearletta was born October 12, 1929 near Riley, KS to John and Alberta (White) Habluetzel. She attended school there before moving to and graduating from high school in Wamego. In April 1950, she married Royal “Keith” Smith and they began a 66 year love story. They created their home outside of Wamego and raised 3 daughters, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was a stay at home mom for many years, then worked as a waitress at area restaurants including Tradewinds Supper Club. But the majority of her career was spent as a food service provider at Derby Food Center at KSU. Pearletta enjoyed reading, cooking, was an avid KSU Wildcats fan and enjoyed taking trips to Branson to see live music performances. She was an animal lover and shared her love with many cats and dogs throughout the years, even adopting strays. Pearletta is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and grandson Joshua Yenzer. She is survived by her daughters Sandi Deines, Sue Yenzer and husband Gary, and Shari Liming and husband William; grandchildren Megan Deines, Gary W. Yenzer, Lani Deines, Amanda Yenzer, Gregg Yenzer and partner Ashley, Kate Taylor and husband Dustin, Austin Liming and wife Madeline, Amy Yenzer, Sara Liming, and Cody Liming; and great-grandchildren Alyssa Boatwright, Aidan Taylor, Jaykob Yenzer, Emma Yenzer and Payton Yenzer. She is also survived by sisters Janice Hedrick, Lois Feldhausen, and brother John Habluetzel. The family would like to thank the staff at At Home Assisted Living, Angels Care Home Service, Via Christi Hospital, Via Christi Village and Good Shepard Hospice House in Manhattan for their special care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pearletta’s honor to Riley County Humane Society or Children's Advocacy Center. Donations and correspondence should be sent to: Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
