Roxie Ann Travis, 62, Louisville, died February 21, 2018 at her home. She was born December 7, 1955 in Topeka to William R. and Nellie L. Arganbright Travis.
She spent her entire life in the Louisville community. Roxie graduated from Wamego High School in 1973 and attended Cowley County Community College for one year before returning to the Wamego area to begin her career with Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society. Roxie was a very caring person who loved and dedicated over 42 years of her life to working with the elderly residents as a CMA and Restorative Aide at Valley Vista. She lovingly referred to the residents and her co-workers as her family. Roxie had a big heart and would often buy things for residents if they happened to be in need.
She was a member of the Caring Hearts Committee at Valley Vista and Louisville United Methodist Church. She was also an Avon representative for many years after taking over for her mother when she passed away in 1992. Roxie loved to read and collect things.
Roxie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include a brother, Richard William Travis, American Fork, Utah as well as numerous cousins.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, March 1st , from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Memorials are suggested to Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
