Ruth Ethington

July 20, 1934 — October 6, 2021

Ruth L. Ethington, 87, formerly of Eudora, Wamego and Emporia, KS. passed away October 6, 2021 in Wichita, KS. She had resided at Larksfield Place Care Facility in Wichita since April of 2018.

     Ruth was the youngest of twelve siblings born to Joe and Dora Bowie in Valley Falls, KS. on July 20, 1934. The family moved to McLouth, KS where Ruth graduated high school as a Bulldog in 1951 with the distinction of valedictorian of her class. She was also voted Homecoming Queen both her Junior and Senior years.

     Ruth married James A. Ethington in August of 1955, and after the birth of four children moved to Wamego, KS. in 1968. During this time Ruth enjoyed working out of the house as an elementary teaching assistant, bank teller and a hospital clerk. Ruth was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Wamego.         

     She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her loving husband Jim. Ruth is survived by her children;  Kevin Ethington (Yvonne), Terry Ethington ( Daphne ), Kim Ethington, and Trecia Eiseman (Paul). Ruth was blessed with seven grand children and four great-grandchildren.

     Private family services will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with burial in Wamego City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Trinity Baptist Church in Wamego.
