Sherry Ann Harrison

August 13, 1943 — February 19, 2018

Sherry A. Harrison, age 74, of Brewer, MS, formerly of Chapman, KS,  passed away peacefully and returned to her heavenly home on February 19, 2018.  Sherry was born August 13, 1943 at Fort Riley, KS.

Her beloved parents Robert O. Cox Sr. and Reva M. Carter Cox preceded her in death. Sherry attended all her school years in the Junction City, KS public school system. She was united in holy matrimony on October 8, 1961 to Johnnie A. Harrison of Kernersville, NC.  They were high school sweethearts and her one and only true love.  He preceded her in death in 2001 after losing a battle with cancer.  Sherry was a constant and devoted caregiver throughout his illness.

Sherry lived 31 years in Chapman, KS and was employed by Chapman Valley Manor as a dietary aide.  In 2007, Sherry moved to Mississippi.  Although she loved the beautiful wheat fields in Kansas and the smell of lilacs in the spring, she became very fond of southern winters and being surrounded by crepe myrtles.

Sherry’s beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, daughter Julie A. (Kevin) Wallace from Brewer, MS, son Allen S. (Beverly) Harrison of Junction City, KS and daughter Vicki L. (Kevin) Olsen from Junction City, KS.  Sherry is survived by one sister Pam (Harold) Edie, also from Junction City, KS.  Sherry cherished her grandchildren, Sydney (Quincy) Byles of Fulton, MS, Brandon Olsen of Junction City, KS, and Reva Harrison of Brewer, MS.  She had two great grandchildren Gavin and Violet Byles.

Sherry was a devoted member of the church of Christ in Verona, MS where she had many friends. Sherry enjoyed doing volunteer work at her local physical rehab facility.  She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, swimming and traveling.  She will always be remembered for her humor and the ability to share a laugh everywhere she went.  She had a quick wit and lived life with zeal.  She was ready for any adventure at any time and everyone who knew Sherry knew she had a passion as brilliant as the color red, that she so adored.  So everyone wear something red, remember her, do not be sad, she is safe and secure with her Savior.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude for all expressions of sympathy during their bereavement.  No visitation is planned and a private family service will be held graveside in Wamego City Cemetery.
