Virginia Lee Butler

  Virginia Lee Butler, 87, died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Meridian Rehabilitation & HealthCare facility in Wichita, KS.

  She was born March 21, 1931 to Clifford and Bertha (Timm) Hultgren, of White City, KS.  She attended rural schools and graduated from White City High School in 1949.  She met her future husband, Robert “Bob” William Butler, while attending nursing school at Emporia.  They were married August 5, 1951.

  After living a short time in Wichita and Topeka, they moved to Ulysses, KS in 1963.  She worked as a Ward Clerk for Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital until she retired in 2004.  She loved her flowers, Siamese cats and angels.  In 2005, she and Bob moved to Wamego, KS.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Les Hutlgren; step-father, Fred Koepsel; and husband.  She is survived by her five children, Joyce Adams  (Rob), Garden City, Willy Butler (Donna), Greeley, CO, Brian Butler, Wichita, KS, Wayne Butler (Joyce), Belton, MO; and Bruce Butler (Robin), Manhattan, KS; three sisters, Dorothy Luttman, Wichita, KS, Avis Pretzer, Council Grove, KS, and Velma Foster, Wichita, KS; and one brother, Richard Koepsel, Wichita, KS.  She was a grandmother to ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

  Cremation arrangements were handled by Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.  A visitation will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the First Union Church in Dodge City, KS.  A private inurnment will be held at the Fort Dodge Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge, KS where she will join her husband in the columbarium wall.
