Virginia Lee Westgate died peacefully on February 4, 2025, in Wamego, KS.

She was born on December 1, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Carl and Virginia (Ward) White. 

Jenny and Dany married on February 26, 1955, in Manhattan, KS. Together they shared just three weeks shy of their 70th wedding anniversary.

Jenny attended schools in Baldwin City, KS. She later dedicated her career as the lead cook at St. George schools, where she nurtured countless students with her cooking skills and caring nature.

Throughout her life, Jenny embraced many hobbies and interests. She was an avid dancer who delighted in her flower garden and enjoyed playing cards daily with her husband, Dany. As a passionate sports fan, she loved cheering for the Wildcats, Chiefs, and Royals. Jenny was especially devoted to her grandchildren, never missing their activities. She cherished time spent with her sister-in-law Nancy, observing bluebirds and gathering wildflowers. Additionally, she enjoyed horseback riding with Myron, Nancy, Dan, and their children. Jenny and Dan reveled in their travels with MC and Bev Culbertson and spending the colder months in Texas with family in their motorhomes.

Jenny is survived by her husband, Daniel Westgate; children, Jim (Renee) Westgate, Susie Westgate, Scott (Vicki) Westgate, and Shannon (Justin) Reiss; grandchildren, Andy (Karen) Westgate, Audrey Westgate, Cody (Genna) Westgate, Clayton (Nicole) Westgate, Kelsey (John) Girvin, Marc Reiss, Megan Reiss, and Justin and Jacob Reiss; and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Taryn, Ishiah, Wyatt, Kara, Mason, Hal, Lake, Finn, Alynna, and Kaid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Virginia White, and her sisters, Mary Ann White and Nancy Jo Sloop, and brother-in-law Maxwell (Bud) Sloop.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions can be made payable to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital and can be left in the care of the funeral home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
